A porchetta roll is forever! Welcome to the 9th edition of Porchettiamo

Who could have ever imagined it? It seems like yesterday that we were thinking of creating a new event and here we are at the 9th edition of Porchettiamo. This event was not only an immediate hit, but it has been able to renew a contemporary rite with ancient roots, year after year. Porchetta is one and a thousand. Each porchetta is unique in the subtle differences of ingredient mixes, cooking techniques and little secrets. A vast universe that is fully represented in the main square of San Terenziano, to welcome and celebrate the new summer. Porchetta as a latch to understand peoples and their history, as binoculars to admire hamlets and village towers, and as a common language that hides not differences nor dialects.

In an increasingly entangled gastronomic scenery – where street food has resumed its place, but mystified by fakes and speculations -, the porchetta roll has kept its authenticity, completely fearless of time and fashions. Porchetta is an immediate meal because it has no mediation and is immediately understandable. It is self-explicatory, no doctrines or priests are needed to reconcile differences. Today just as before.

An event that has been able to evolve while maintaining its original structure and identity, in an interesting continuum. From Piazza delle Porchette, the real nerve centre of the event, down to the Rocca Garden hosting Porchettiamo&Friends. The friends of Porchettiamo are increasingly numerous and original, they come from all over the places to celebrate together and offer the best they have.

Then there is Punta di Porchetta, a kiosk where chefs prepare gourmet dishes right in front of your eyes, balancing raw materials, traditions and creativity. Finally, drink pairing with the superb local wines at the La Strada del Sagrantino Enoteque or with the extraordinary artisanal beers selected by Fermento Birra.

But the event, which is a feast, has a surprise for everyone, the younger and the older, united by the pink thread of joy and by a heart-warming, intoxicating, and unmistakable smell.
